See Battlefield Hardline's brilliant, zany reloading animations (that are known so far)

Owen S. Good is a longtime veteran of video games writing, well known for his coverage of sports and racing games.

Give Battlefield Hardline a hand. A third hand, which pops out of nowhere to reload an assault rifle, as one of a few rare and randomly inserted animations that people are capping and laughing over during the game's beta.

The animations aren't unlockables or Easter eggs in a traditional sense; they're sort of randomly "inserted" into Battlefield Hardline, like ultra-rare items in a pack of baseball cards, and players have a 1 in 10,000 chance of seeing one happen. The video above has found four of them, with a fifth surfacing in another below.

There's the RPG wrong-way flip-trick reload; the third arm helping you reload the RO9-D3; an AKM assault rifle reload that seems to be an homage to Dead Space (also made by Visceral) and a "magic trick" with the Desert Eagle (love the finger point at the end). There's also this, a Wild-West trick shooter reload for the .410 Jury revolver.

Not every weapon has a zany re-animation, and Visceral is not saying which ones do or don't. It appears there are more to discover. The secret did-I-just-see-that reloading animations occur so rarely people will drive themselves crazy trying to see them all, and will upload clips of the game obsessively when they do. Well done, Visceral.

The beta is scheduled to end sometime tomorrow. For more on Battlefield Hardline, see our latest impressions.
