Here's how the Game of Thrones dragons are made

Pixomondo, one of the animation houses responsible for bringing Daenerys Targaryen's fearsome dragons to life on Game of Thrones, has released a video showing how the fearsome creatures are modeled and animated.

Highlighting iconic scenes with Drogon (and siblings Rhaegal and Viserion), the video briefly shows the stages that each creature goes through — from humble green-screen blobs on sticks to rough models to the detailed, snarling creatures we know and love (or fear).

It's also a treat to see some of the early animatics of the scenes. The dragons aren't so scary when they're doughy black and white models, but after a few passes, they start to get their teeth. Literally.
