Ori and the Blind Forest is a beautiful game, which I think is one of its most predatory features. It lulls you into a warm, comfortable world of lush arbor and cuddly fauna, and just when you're feeling like nothing bad will ever happen to you again, you get impaled by spikes/crushed by boulders/stomped on by monsters/drowned/all of the above. It's like being wrapped up in a cozy quilt, and then having spiders dumped on you every twenty seconds. Only, like, if that experience were really terrific, because Ori and the Blind Forest really is.
Check out the Overview above to watch Dave and I explore the punishing, super pretty environments in Ori and the Blind Forest, which launched this week on Xbox One and Windows.
