Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor picked up three honors, but the overall game of the year was Dragon Age: Inquisition at the SXSW Gaming Awards, held last night at SXSW.
Triple-A gaming names dominated the lineup, from Destiny (Excellence in Technical Achievement) to Alien: Isolation (Excellence in Sound Effects). The awards also honored a slate of "most valuable" honors, ranging from esports teams, to online channels, and even individual characters within the games.
The SXSW Interactive Festival has been around for 22 years; this is the second year the festival has given awards in video gaming. Last year's Game of the Year winner was The Last Of Us, which also took home accolades inthree more categories.
