Watch Ermac's new super gross fatality in Mortal Kombat X

Mortal Kombat fans have been watching the game's cast die in increasingly gruesome ways over the past 20 years; we've seen them decapitated, dismembered and disemboweled hundreds of times. While bloody death is a series staple, some Mortal Kombat's fatalities have managed to stand out among the trademark graphic violence — Noob Saibot's "Make A Wish" fatality is probably the most memorable example from 2011's Mortal Kombat.

But Mortal Kombat X is going above and beyond, in part thanks to the generational leap the series is making. Ermac's second fatality, which we discussed last week when NetherRealm revealed more about the game's story mode, may be the series' most stomach-turning yet. It's arguably grislier and more twisted than Scorpion's face-slicing fatality that shocked us last year.

The gang at Smosh Games recently played some Mortal Kombat X and managed to capture Ermac's eviscerating fatality, so you can see just how messed up this thing is. There's a snippet of the gory finishing move above, in which Ermac finishes off Johnny Cage, but if you want to see more, watch the full video below.

Mortal Kombat X will be out on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One on April 14. The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions were recently delayed to June.
