Space Invaders is better in real life with lasers

Space Invaders has been through many transitions since its 1978 release, but none quite demonstrates the sheer firepower required to confront an invading alien menace than the video above.

Press play to watch an 80-watt laser cutter obliterate its paper-based aliens in a flash of heat and flame. The first two minutes will walk you through how it was created. The final three show the deadliest game of Space Invaders ever played on a PC.

According to the video from YouTube user msraynsford, the implement of destruction is a Whitetooth AA laser cutter available from the U.K. website Just Add Sharks, whose tagline is "laser cutters for the evil genius." The product is listed for £5,300, or about $7,900.
