Jackman is resuming the role for a third Wolverine spin-off film, due out in theaters in 2017. The film's director, James Mangold, confirmed that the image was in regards to that film with a followup tweet. Mangold also directed 2013's The Wolverine.

Jackman has appeared in all seven X-Men movies to date as Wolverine, whether in a full role or cameo. It's still unclear if he'll be among the cast of X-Men: Apocalypse, due out next year.
