Last week Polygon stopped by Chicago's NetherRealm Studios for some hands-on time with their next title, Mortal Kombat X. Features writer Charlie Hall was left to his own devices with the game for nearly two hours, and Michael McWhertor joined him for an Overview.

MKX features a style system that gives every single character three semi-unique movesets. So Scorpion and Cassie Cage alike each have three variations which share the bulk of their moves, but also differ in important ways. We explore a handful of playable characters in the video above, and share some crushing brutalities and steamy fatalities along the way.

Be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more coverage of MKX, including the first 30 minutes of the game's single-player campaign.
