The Metal Gear Solid movie by Sony Pictures has found its writer, reports Deadline. It's the up-and-coming screenwriter Jay Basu.
Basu has few credits currently but co-wrote Monsters: Dark Continent for Vertigo Films, and it's in post-production. He was also recently signed by Universal Pictures for its push to reboot its catalog of classic monster movies.
Plans for the Metal Gear movie date back to 2012 though the concept has been discussed as far back as 2011. This film is being produced by Avi and Ari Arad with Jordan Vogt-Roberts as the director.
There still is no prospective release date for a Metal Gear Solid movie. The video game series itself rolls out Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One in September.
