Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, Blizzard's collectable trading card game, is getting a new Adventure next month, the developer announced today during its PAX East talk. Blizzard also showed off images of an upcoming phone build of the game, coming in the "next couple of months" for iPhone and Android.
The "Blackrock Mountain Adventure" drops Hearthstone players into the middle of a war between forces battling for control of the mountain. There, duelists will encounter fierce minions, including Dark Iron dwarves, fire elementals, and dragons, before facing off against iconic menaces from the Warcraft universe, such as Ragnaros the Firelord. Players who take down these villains will reap a reward of 31 scorching new cards inspired by the legendary mountain and its denizens, bringing a wealth of new tactical options to the ever-evolving Hearthstone metagame.
"Dark Iron dwarves living in this mountain. They summon a fire lord to work for them, and he showed up and enslaved them and brought a bunch of fire buddies to hang out and tell them what to do," Blizzard's Eric Dodds told a crowd at PAX East this morning. "His goal is to take over the world. There is also a great dragon and Nafarian who also want to take over the world. You get in the middle of this power struggle."
There will be seventeen bosses spread across five wings, released once a week across five weeks. There are 31 new cards.
The new adventure hits PC, Windows, Android tablets and the iPad this April for either 700 in-game gold per wing or $6.99 per wing. The entire Adventure can be picked up for $24.99. More details will be announced soon. Pre-orders by real money starts March 19 and includes an exclusive card back.
