Yoshi's Woolly World will allow players to try two different modes — Classic or Mellow — and use a special yarn Yoshi amiibo, Bill Trinen announced today during the Nintendo Direct presentation.
Yoshi's Woolly World sees Mario's dinosaur companion embarking on a yarn-themed adventure solo or with friends. Similar to previous games in the franchise, Yoshi scrambles through levels eating enemies and firing off eggs. With Classic mode, players get an experience similar to traditional Yoshi games that is still "quite challening," Trinen said.
The game's Mellow mode offers a kinder experience by allowing players to try "winged Yoshi," and soar through levels. Players can swap between the two modes any time during play.
The Yoshi yarn amiibo, showed off today, will come in green, light blue or pink. It will be available this fall and gives players "double Yoshi," or a second on-screen character.
Nintendo announced Yoshi's Woolly World last year at E3. The game is slated for launch on Wii U in "the first half of" 2015.
