Neverwinter's Xbox One tweaks are smart, but performance takes a hit

I was a big fan of Neverwinter when it launched in 2013, thanks to its refreshingly fast pace and clever, comparatively unobtrusive free-to-play model. It seemed like a logical fit for controllers, thanks to the limited action set each player is allotted — and as it turns out, it is. Neverwinter on Xbox One manages to map your heroes' abilities effortlessly across the controller, in a scheme that feels great both in and out of combat. Unfortunately, other aspects of the port totally miss the mark; in terms of performance, Neverwinter on Xbox One can really take a dive.

Check out the Overview above to see Phil and myself run through a couple of dungeons in Neverwinter on Xbox One, braving zombie brutes and frame rate hiccups in the process.
