Capcom is bringing a very cute Monster Hunter RPG to Nintendo 3DS

Capcom will release a new Monster Hunter game for Nintendo 3DS called Monster Hunter Stories, a role-playing game that appears to be a stylistically different take on the series, next year. The new RPG was revealed in a trailer for the game shown at a Monster Hunter Festa event in Japan.

The trailer shows a young hunter and his Felyne friend being chased by a Tigrex, only to be rescued by a friendly miniature Rathalos. We get a glimpse of Monster Hunter Stories' colorful, cartoon-like world and a clear sense that Capcom's new RPG will be infused with a bit more humor than other Monster Hunter games.

Monster Hunter Stories is dated for 2016 in Japan. We've reached out to Capcom to see if a Western release is in the works.
