The Guitar Hero reboot scheduled to be revealed later today continues to be the latest worst-kept secret in video gaming.
The French newspaper Le Monde reported the game will play play in a first-person perspective and feature a redesigned guitar controller, in a story that apparently broke an embargo.
The story has since been taken down by Le Monde and Yahoo! France, where it was syndicated. The game is being developed by UK-based FreeStyleGames, the developer behind the DJ Hero series for Activision. The new guitar controller will have two rows of three keys, Le Monde added.
Other details, such as a launch date, were not available. NeoGAF spied the article and is busy dissecting it in this thread.
Activision teased a Guitar Hero reveal yesterday with this none-too-subtle video, so stay tuned for the full, official announcement.
Activision shelved Guitar Hero in 2011 after seeing dwindling returns on an annual franchise that had brought in $2 billion in revenue, lifetime, by 2009. But its overexposure through annual releases and spinoffs, and the global economic collapse of late 2008, sapped its consumer appeal over the next two years.
