In Captain Forever Remix if you can build it, you can fly it

Charlie Hall is Polygon’s tabletop editor. In 10-plus years as a journalist & photographer, he has covered simulation, strategy, and spacefaring games, as well as public policy.

Captain Forever Remix is on Steam's Early Access right now, and so far we've been having a ton of fun with it. The game blends Lego-like spaceship building with roguelike action, all smeared with a candy-coated '90s veneer.

The team behind the game, which includes Dean Tate, Brian Chan and Emeen Zarookian, has the blessing of the game's original creator, an indie developer simply known as Farbs. They've taken his cult favorite game and given it a new coat of paint and a lot of gameplay improvements.

Charlie Hall and Nick Robinson sit down to talk about the game's potential, and how in the world we might get something this fiddly onto a console or a handheld.

The next level of puzzles.

Take a break from your day by playing a puzzle or two! We’ve got SpellTower, Typeshift, crosswords, and more.
