Two weeks ago, Nintendo dropped a surprise during their Nintendo Direct: along with the release of Mario Kart 8's second DLC pack, the game will be getting an optional speed boost with the addition of a free, ultra-fast 200cc class. We got a chance to go hands-on with the new content earlier this week, including a few quick laps of Mario Kart's fastest mode yet.
Above, you'll see seven blisteringly fast laps around Baby Park, a remade stage included in DLC Pack 2 that you may recognize from 2003's Mario Kart: Double Dash!! Each lap clocks in at a mere eight seconds long, with the entire race taking just a brisk 89 seconds to complete. That ... is pretty fast.
Mario Kart 8 DLC Pack 2 will release on April 23 for $7.99, alongside a free update adding the 200cc mode.
