Ryan Gosling is in talks to star in Alcon Entertainment's Blade Runner sequel, the production company announced yesterday.
Alcon previously confirmed that Harrison Ford will reprise his role as Rick Deckard, one of the titular police operatives who hunt down replicants. The company provided no information about Gosling's character.
The untitled sequel will be directed by Dennis Villeneuve, whose directing resume includes the 2013 thriller Prisoners. Its script was written by Hampton Francher, co-writer of Blade Runner, and Michael Green. Blade Runner director Ridley Scott is an executive producer on the sequel.
Alcon has revealed no plot details about the movie, except to say that it takes place several decades after the 1982 original. Filming is set to begin in summer 2016.
