Is it really time for your full-spoiler, NSFW look at the best scenes of this week's Game of Thrones? Of course!
It's interesting to see Sansa come into her own when it comes to assertiveness and knowing what she wants, and Littlefinger certainly gave her enough excuses to stay, but by all the gods I can watch her and Brienne stare each other down all day.
That being said...
Brienne is really, really good at what she does, and what she does is cut down people who get in her way.
Which brings us to Maester Aemon trolling the hell out of the crows with his final vote.
This scene was great, from Sam's speech, to Jon recently turning down the rights to his family name, and then the final reveal. It's not like this was going to go any other way, but the way the scene was shot and editing went for a bit of humor that was very welcome in this episode.
Especially since the next scene was so hard to watch.
The actual violence happened off-camera so we could continue to watch the reaction of both Daenerys and the crowd, and it was a shrewd way to frame a scene that removed so much of her perceived authority so quickly.
But then ...
Game of Thrones really delivers whenever the dragons are shown, and this amazing scene is no exception. But it also shows how far Daenerys' "children" have grown from her. She has no control of them; Drogon seems unsure of her, but at least he's not out there hurting anyone.
This season is asking many questions, but I'm very curious about how Daenerys gains her dragons back in a way that allows their use in her rule.
See you next week!
