Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee New ‘n Tasty's creators reversed course today, announcing that the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions will be free to PlayStation Plus subscribers who downloaded the free PlayStation 4 version.
The creators announced last August that the game would support Sony's cross-buy program, where purchasing the side-scrolling puzzle platformer on one PlayStation system would unlock it on others.
In March, the PlayStation 4 version of Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee New ‘n Tasty appeared as a free title for PlayStation Plus subscribers. According to a post on the series' official site, its creators intended that "only the PS4 version of the game would form part of the PS Plus system," in part because the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions were still in costly development.
Since then, things have changed.
"That said, numerous factors (including fan feedback) have prompted us to change our stance on this particular matter," the post reads. "So, if you downloaded New ‘n' Tasty for PS4 during the PS Plus period, the PS3 and PS Vita versions of the game will be free for download for you on release."
Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee New ‘n Tasty is available now on PS3, PS4, Xbox One, Linux, Mac and Windows PC, and the developer hopes to have news "soon" on the Vita version. The release date for Wii U has yet to be announced.
