A new teaser trailer for Treyarch's Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 hints at the upcoming game's futuristic setting, which appears to be set as far out as the year 2065, and the cybernetic technology that will apparently come into play in the series' next entry.
While there doesn't appear to be any game footage from Black Ops 3, the video hints at a number of biotech advancements, including DNA upgrades, retinal implants, cybernetic limb replacements and "brain-to-brain connections." The video predicts how advancements in cybernetics will affect health, professional sports and the military. That tech is "literally turning humans into weapons," a character in the video says.
The Black Ops 3 teaser also makes multiple references to the Coalescence Corporation and a "super soldier program" within the U.S. military. The teaser opens with the warning, "Mankind's greatest mistake will be its inability to control the technology it has created."
Black Ops 3 was officially announced earlier this month in another teaser trailer. The game's official website described the game as follows:
Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 deploys players into a dark, twisted future where a new breed of Black Ops soldier emerges and the lines are blurred between our own humanity and the technology we created to stay ahead, in a world where cutting-edge military robotics define warfare.
We'll have more information on Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 on Sunday, April 26.
