Avengers' Mark Ruffalo tackles sexist questions often posed to Scarlett Johansson

New, 43 comments

Black Widow actress Scarlett Johansson has endured more than her fair share of ridiculous questions while on press tours for the Avengers films — from interviewers asking about whether or not she wears underwear under her costume and her diet, to the importance of her character being "smart as well as hot."

In a refreshing turn of events, Cosmopolitan UK playfully flipped the questions typically aimed at female actresses to Johansson's co-star, Mark Ruffalo. While Johansson discusses her work doing physical stunts and her character, Ruffalo gamely talks red carpet outfits and food habits. Now, can we finally agree that the selective questions actresses get are absurd?

The week has been full of memorable interviews, from Robert Downey Jr. walking out of one uncomfortable situation, and Chris Evans and Jeremy Renner creating — and subsequently apologizing for — another. Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theaters May 1. For more of Johansson talking about her character, check out a short featurette from Marvel on Black Widow and Scarlet Witch below.
