Lab Zero's 2D fighting game Skullgirls is coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita this summer with a host of exclusive new features, the developer said today, including a fully voiced story mode and additional gameplay modes. It's also coming under the name Skullgirls 2nd Encore.
The PS4 and Vita versions will add voice-over work to the game's story mode, featuring "some of anime's best and brightest" voice talent, Lab Zero CEO Peter Bartholow said on the game's official website.
Skullgirls 2nd Encore will also add a new challenge mode, in which players fight in matches with a "variety of unique battle conditions," and trials, which tasks players with pulling off specific combos "frequently used in real play." Lab Zero is also adding a new survival mode with 2nd Encore.
The PS4 and Vita releases will support Sony's cross-buy feature and be cross-platform-compatible with the PS3 version. As previously announced, the PS4 version of Skullgirls 2nd Encore will support PS3 gamepads and fight sticks.
Lab Zero says it plans to bring the extra game content, which is exclusive to the new PlayStation versions for now, to the Windows PC version of Skullgirls as downloadable content.
More details on Skullgirls 2nd Encore are available at the game's website.
