True Detective season 2 premieres June 21, watch the trailer here

The second season of True Detective, the acclaimed crime drama anthology series, will premiere June 21 on HBO, the network announced today with a teaser trailer.

As an anthology series, True Detective is shifting to a new story, setting and characters for season 2. It takes place in California and stars Colin Farrell as Ray Velcoro, a detective in a corrupt police department who's also in debt to a mobster; Vince Vaughn as Frank Semyon, a criminal trying to go legit; Rachel McAdams as Ani Bezzerides, a detective with a steadfast ethical code; Taylor Kitsch as Paul Woodrugh, a war veteran and motorcycle police officer; and Kelly Reilly as Jordan Semyon, Frank's wife.

True Detective's debut season, which ran from January to March 2014, featured Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as Louisiana State Police homicide detectives.
