Destiny is 50 percent off right now on Xbox One, Xbox 360 Gold and other deals

Xbox Live Gold subscribers can buy Destiny at a 50 percent discount this week, according to a post on Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb's blog.

Microsoft's latest discounts for Xbox Live Gold subscribers also span the Saints Row franchise and Gears of War: Judgement add-on content. The games and their discounts are as follows:

• Destiny Digital Guardian Edition, 33 percent off
• Saints Row 4 Re-elected, 25 percent off
• Saints Row 4: Re-elected and Saints Row: Gat out of Hell, 33 percent off
• Saints Row: Gat out of Hell, 33 percent off

XBOX 360

• Destiny, 50 percent off
• Gears of War: Judgment Lost Relics DLC Pack, 67 percent off
• Gears of War: Judgment Call to Arms DLC Pack, 60 percent off
• Gears of War: Judgment Total Skin Pack, 60 percent off
• Gears of War: Judgment Epic Weapon Skin Pack, 50 percent off
• Saints Row: Gat out of Hell, 33 percent off
• Saints Row: The Third, 67 percent off
• Saints Row 4, 67 percent off

The deals are good for Xbox Live Gold subscribers through May 18. The one exception is Destiny for Xbox One, which is also discounted for Xbox Live Silver subscribers.

Microsoft's other promotion, Games with Gold, is giving three games free to Gold subscribers this month.

The Destiny discounts arrive ahead of the game's next expansion, which will arrive Tuesday, May 19. Over the last few weeks, Destiny developer Bungie has been detailing the game's forthcoming expansion, House of Wolves. That includes a competitive multiplayer arena called Trials of Osiris and a wave-based cooperative mode called Prison of Elders.
