The Simpsons star Harry Shearer, who over the years has voiced Ned Flanders, Mr. Burns, Principal Skinner, Kent Brockman and several more, is leaving the animated show. Shearer announced his departure via Twitter.
The actor tweeted the following referencing The Simpsons executive producer, James L. Brooks:

CNNMoney reports that Shearer's characters will not be killed off, but rather replaced with new voice actors. The Simpsons is expected to enter production soon for seasons 27 and 28 of the show.
Following the announcement, Shearer later tweeted, "Thanks, Simpsons fans, for your support."
