Delivering on its promise to make DLC characters playable for free, Mortal Kombat X is offering a weekend-long challenge starring Friday the 13th's Jason Voorhees, who is normally available in a premium DLC pack.
It's a six-match "challenge tower" live right now, and it lasts until Monday. In the challenge, players can test out all three of Jason's fighting styles. Other premium characters such as Tanya, Tremor, and The Predator also guest-star this weekend. All of them are available in the $30 "Kombat Pack" that tosses in some extra skins.
Mortal Kombat X has won praise for its gameplay as well as skepticism for the DLC and microtransaction shortcuts it offers. Polygon has scored the game an 8.5, calling it "friendly to casual players ... but deep enough for competitive players."
