Back to the Future fires up Lego Dimensions campaign

Christopher Lloyd reprises his role as Back to the Future's madcap scientist Doc Brown for this new commercial for forthcoming toy-to-life game Lego Dimensions, which is due for release on Sept. 27.

The game allows players to place Lego characters and vehicles on a Toy Pad, and interact with the figures inside simple puzzle, platform and combat games. As well as Back to the Future, the game world will include characters and environments from Batman, Lord of the Rings, DC Comics, The Simpsons, Ghostbusters, Portal, Scooby Doo, Doctor Who, Jurassic World and The Lego Movie as well as others, to be announced, all of which can be used together in mash-up levels.

Players can bring up to seven Lego toys into the game all at once by placing them on the Toy Pad to create "extreme gameplay cross-overs, such as Lego Superman piloting the DeLorean Time Machine through Hill Valley," according to publisher Warner Bros.

Lego Dimensions is coming to Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and Wii U.
