Earlier this year, Nordic Games confirmed that they were planning to release a remaster of Darksiders 2 for new consoles. Today, that remaster seems to have a name and new cover art on an Amazon listing.
A listing on Amazon shows Darksiders 2: Deathfinitive Edition for the PlayStation 4 will sell for $39.99 and hit on Dec. 31. While the price and release date for the pre-order listing for the game could be placeholders, the included cover art probably isn't.
A remastered version of Darksiders 2 first popped up on Amazon in February. Publisher, and IP owner, Nordic Games later confirmed that a remaster of the game was indeed in the works, but declined to say which platforms it would appear on.
We've reached out to Nordic Games and will update this story when they reply.
Darksiders 2 was published in 2012 by THQ for PlayStation 3, Windows PC and Xbox 360, with another version added for the Wii U's launch. THQ went bankrupt later that year, however, and in January 2013 its assets were sold off to pay its debts. In April 2013, Nordic Games spent $4.9 million to acquire Darksiders (plus the Red Faction and MX series).
In May 2014, Vigil Games former creative director Joe Madureira wrote on Facebook that the game wasn't dead.
"The new owner, Nordic seems very committed to continuing the series.
"As far as my involvement, I can't say at this point. Hopefully we will all have exciting news about the franchise soon."
