Among the many, many things coming to The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth with the game's massive Afterbirth expansion will be daily scoreboard challenges, the developers announced today.
"Every day the game will generate a specific seed that will be generated the same for everyone (minus locked things) and you can now compete against the internet for best score in the run," according to the blog post. "This feature was one of my favorites in Spelunky and I always wanted to do it in Isaac... but how do you score a game like Isaac? More on that in a later post..."
When first announced, developer Edmund McMillen wrote that Afterbirth, would "easily extend the gameplay time by another 100-200 hours," thanks to a long list of new additions.
Among those listed additions were more than 100 new items, 10 new challenges and a "full new game mode that will totally change you play."
Today's blog update also included a look at two other new goodies:
The Dead Eye, which raises damage with each consecutive hit and causes your tears to become red glowing balls of death.
The Continuum, which causes your eyes to become glowing purple holes and makes the tears Isaac cries loop through the wall when they shoot off screen. The blog shows off how the item "turns Isaac into the space ship in Asteroids."
