Monster Hunter X announced for Japan in this debut trailer

Nintendo staged a Japan-only Nintendo Direct overnight (U.S. time) and in it, Capcom announced the latest entry in its Monster Hunter franchise: Monster Hunter X — where the X means "Cross." See it in action in this trailer above.

Of course there are new monsters (what's the point otherwise) but there also are new weapons and new attacks that go with them. All are featured in the trailer.

Monster Hunter X will launch "Winter 2015," meaning the end of this year, on Nintendo 3DS. No news was given of western release plans. The last full game in the series, Monster Hunter 4, launched in Japan in September 2013 before launching in the west as Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate in February of this year.
