PlayStation won't have a Gamescom press conference this year

PlayStation will this year forego its big GamesCom press conference for a smaller affair in Paris, according to a report by Videogamer.com.

PlayStation's big GamesCom press conference has for years been the place where Sony announced some of it's big plans for its console in Europe.

It was at GamesCom that Sony unveiled a PlayStation 3 price drop, talked about television support coming to the console and showed off a number of big games for the PlayStation 4.

But this year, the company confirmed that they won't be showing at the big public and press-only event. Instead, the company's European press event will be held at the Paris Games Week in October. The change comes a year after Sony expanded their PlayStation outreach in the U.S. with the PlayStation Experience held in Las Vegas near the end of the year.

We've reached out to Sony about its E3 plans and will update this story when they respond.
