Destiny developer Bungie is patching the game to version 1.2 today, but the update won't actually change anything yet, the studio announced on Twitter.
The patch will force players out of activities so they can download the update, according to Bungie's support account on Twitter. But Bungie noted that it will activate the patch's changes "at a later date to be announced." There's no word yet on how big today's download is.
Destiny version 1.2 — which is expected to go live at, or shortly before, the launch of the House of Wolves expansion — will deliver sweeping changes for all players, regardless of whether they buy the add-on. That includes the elimination of the Commendations system that Bungie introduced in The Dark Below, and the addition of a materials exchange courtesy of the Speaker.
House of Wolves will be released May 19. For more, check back at 2 p.m. ET for coverage of today's House of Wolves livestream, in which Bungie will details the new Prison of Elders mode. You can check out a teaser below.
