Free Minecraft skins hit Xbox to celebrate three years on Microsoft consoles

Minecraft players on Xbox 360 and Xbox One can help themselves to three downloadable content packs filled with character skins for developer Mojang's blocky game.

The free packs are available now until May 17, according to a post on Xbox Wire. Two of the skin packs were previously released for Minecraft's first and second Xbox birthdays. A new bundle includes "veteran Mojangstas and a few cheeky extras." You can browse the new characters in the gallery below.

Last September, Microsoft bought Mojang for $2.5 billion. Since then, it's been business as usual for the multiplatform game, which is available across consoles, mobile devices and PC. Other recent characters joining Minecraft include a new female character and characters from The Simpsons.
