Here's a peek at Batman: Arkham Knight's Red Hood in action

Michael McWhertor is a journalist with more than 17 years of experience covering video games, technology, movies, TV, and entertainment.

Batman: Arkham Knight will give players control of the Dark Knight himself, as well as his crime-fighting friends Robin, Nightwing and Catwoman. They'll also have the option to play as the Red Hood, but only in the event that they purchase the game from GameStop, unfortunately. Will it be worth it? Thanks to a new GameStop ad, we now have our first look at the Red Hood in action and can start to make that judgment call.

Gameplay featuring the Red Hood is incredibly brief — short enough to fit into a three-second GIF at the end of this post. But it looks like the Red Hood will mix Arkham combat up by tossing in some gunplay.

Batman: Arkham Knight will also feature another playable character, Harley Quinn, who serves as another pre-order exclusive. For a breakdown of the game's myriad DLC add-ons and pre-order incentives, check out this post.

Rocksteady Studios and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment will release Batman: Arkham Knight for PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One on June 23.
