Wipeout's racers speed into Resogun today

Owen S. Good is a longtime veteran of video games writing, well known for his coverage of sports and racing games.

The distinctive racing vehicles of the Wipeout series come to Resogun on the PlayStation 4 today, along with a downloadable version of the game's soundtrack.

The new ships are available for $1.49 each or as a $3.99 bundle. They are the Feisar, Piranha, Auricom, AG Sys and Qirex.

"Each ship has been specifically modelled to represent its Classic Wipeout look and feature custom attribute set ups to reflect their strengths in speed and weaponry," Sony says on the PlayStation Blog.

As for the soundtrack, it is $7.99 and available through the PlayStation Store. The tracks may be loaded onto any digital music player. Additionally, three additional skins for the humans the players save in Resogun are available for 99 cents each.

The last game in the Wipeout series was Wipeout 2048, which launched for for PlayStation Vita in 2012. SCE Studio Liverpool, the studio behind the Wipeout series, was closed shortly thereafter.
