On stage moments ago during Sony’s E3 press conference, Capcom revealed two more fighters and a beta program for Street Fighter 5.
The new characters are Cammy, who has been a longstanding cast member, and Birdie, who last appeared in Street Fighter Alpha 3 and is one of a handful of characters who also appeared in the original Street Fighter.
Polygon recently tried out Cammy and Birdie at a pre-E3 press event, and found Cammy similar to her previous versions — very fast, with short range attacks — while Birdie now has longer range than he did in Alpha 3 and uses his chains to help him cover more of the screen.
According to Capcom Director of Marketing Matt Dahlgren, the game’s beta will be open to anyone who pre-orders, and will run in three phases on PlayStation 4. The first will last for five days starting July 23, with the other two to be announced later. Dahlgren says PC players will also be able to test the game before release, but Capcom has yet to announce specifics on how that will roll out.
Additionally, Dahlgren announced that Capcom plans to ship the game in Spring 2016. For more on Street Fighter 5, check out Polygon’s recent preview.
