Dark Souls 3 is confirmed for an early 2016 release, publisher Bandai Namco announced today at Microsoft's E3 2015 media briefing. The publisher showed a pre-rendered trailer for Dark Souls 3, with the tagline "...now only embers remain."
The game's world premiere trailer included a dusty, desolate world and what appeared to be a massive giant awakening, his equally giant sword glowing with fire.
Bandai Namco confirmed that Dark Souls 3 is coming to PlayStation 4, Windows PC through Steam and Xbox One. Series creator Hidetaka Miyazaki will return to direct the sequel, Bandai Namco said.
According to a press release from Bandai Namco Europe, Dark Souls 3 is the "final episode" in the series.
First details on Dark Souls 3 leaked in advance of the announcement, revealing new gameplay details and a rumored early 2016 release date.
