It's easy to let nostalgia distort what the games we played almost a decade ago looked like. The most recent example of a possible victim of this tendency would be The Coalition's upcoming Gears of War: Ultimate Edition.
While Ultimate Edition isn't a fully new game, it's not just a cleaner, sharper version of the original. The Coalition and their partners at Splash Damage have gone to a lot of trouble to bring Gears of War into the modern era in a way that doesn't look jarringly different, while also making concessions to the expectations of modern audiences.
