Destiny partnered up with energy drink Red Bull to give out bonus experience points and early access to a new Taken King quest via cans of its soda, Activision confirmed today.
The new quest hits Sept. 15, the same day as The Taken King, for people with a Red Bull code. If you don't have a code, you'll have to wait until after Jan. 1.
The goodies can be grabbed via a code found inside cans of Red Bull designed to include images of both Destiny and eSports gamer Michael "Flamesword" Chaves, a member of OpTic Gaming.
The quest is described as a multi-stage mission in The Taken King that will "test the speed and strategic abilities of Destiny players in new ways."
Starting July 1, players can use codes for "focused light," a one-time consumable bonus experience point buff that increases all experience gain by 50 percent for a period of 30 minutes. Those codes need to be used by the end of July. Multiple codes can be redeemed but only one code can be used at a time, according to the site.
Cans start hitting 7-Eleven stores in July and elsewhere in August. A Destiny-branded four-pack of Red Bull will hit Walmarts closer to the Sept. 15 release of The Taken King and will include a "Mega XP Accelerator."
