Batman: Arkham Knight has dominated the news since it came out, first by being named one of the best games of this console generation and then being voluntarily pulled off of Steam because of issues with the PC version. Now that players are digging into the game, some clever little Easter eggs are popping up. One of them pokes fun at GamerGate.
Mild spoilers below.
Scattered throughout Arkham Knight are small puzzles, called Riddler Challenges. Once you solve them you receive interesting stories culled from Gotham City itself. One of these stories is called "Social Outcast." There's an image below, but here's the full text of the Easter egg.
"Y do u attack B@man? He is BASED! U r a fa-"
Riddler deleted the email, and all the others like it, as prickly hot anger and shame squirmed through his insides. No point in denying it: #CrusaderGate had been a disastrous social media campaign.
He couldn't understand it. Seemed the internet's idiotic and easily roused rabble could froth itself into a full-fat cappuccino of frenzy over "white knights." But offer it up a Dark one — on a plate! — and you get a soy latte's worth of indignation at best! Didn't they understand what Batman had done?
If Gotham's finest criminals can't spark outrage on the internet, well then I don't know what this fictional world is coming to. But then again, maybe I'm just another mouthpiece for the Wayne Foundation's agenda. Follow the money.
