Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will offer a more emotional tale than its bombastic predecessor, according to director and writer James Gunn.
During the 41st Annual Saturn Awards, Gunn took questions from a group of reporters, which Collider captured in the video above. Gunn spoke briefly about his other projects before taking a few questions on the sequel.
"I think it's going to be exciting," Gunn said. "I think it's a more emotional movie. It's both a bigger movie and a smaller movie, because we focus more intensely on some of the characters. We get to learn a lot about fathers in the second movie, and I think we focus a lot on that."
The filmmaker has previously said that Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord, will have a different dad in the films than the one introduced in the comics. Gunn also points out that we haven't listened to Star-Lord's Awesome Mix volume 2 tape, but we can expect to in the sequel.
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 hits theaters May 5, 2017. For more on the first movie, read our impressions.
