Early allocations of Valve's Steam Machine hardware — including the Steam Machine controller and Steam Link streaming hub — are sold out via pre-order, Valve said in a release today. If you wanted a Steam Machine a few weeks early, the time has passed, the company says.
Steam Machine hardware, including computers from hardware manufacturers Alienware and Syber, are expected to launch on Nov. 10.
Valve and its partners opened up pre-orders for Steam Machines in June with the promise that those who pre-purchased the hardware could get it early — as early as Oct. 16. The computers and Steam Machine accessories were available for pre-order through GameStop, EB Games, Micromania and Game UK, as well as directly through Steam. Within a week of opening up "get it early" pre-orders, Valve said it had sold through 35 percent of its allocation for early adopters.
Pre-orders for the official November launch of Steam Machines are still available through Steam. Valve is selling its controller and Steam Link hub for $49.99 each. Pricing on the Steam Machines themselves, which come in a variety of configurations, starts at $449.99.
