Destiny's Iron Banner returns June 30

Destiny developer Bungie is bringing back the Iron Banner competitive multiplayer event tomorrow, June 30, the studio announced today.

Just in time for the Fourth of July weekend, this latest Iron Banner event will be the second since the debut of Destiny: House of Wolves last month. It comes just three weeks after the end of the first post-House of Wolves Iron Banner.

During that event, Lord Saladin offered Etheric Light — a vital and rare resource that's necessary to upgrade legendary gear — at ranks 3 and 5 of Iron Banner reputation. Destiny also provided a reputation boost for players' lower-ranked alternate Guardians so they could rank up more quickly.

It's unclear at this point if those facets of Iron Banner will return alongside the event tomorrow. Bungie did say on Twitter that rewards offered in the upcoming Iron Banner include two types of armor (gauntlets and a chest piece) as well as two weapons. Along with a machine gun, players will be able to earn the legendary pulse rifle known as Skorri's Revenge.

The Iron Banner will begin at 10 a.m. PDT tomorrow; the event typically lasts for one week. For more on House of Wolves, check out the Overview video below, as well as our review.
