Speaking at a Metrocon panel earlier this month, voice actor Nolan North told the audience that he knows that The Last of Us 2 is in development.
North, who plays a relatively minor role in the original game, was responding to a question about whether he was doing any more projects with Last of Us developer Naughty Dog.
"For now I know they're doing Last of Us 2, but my character in Last of Us kind of met an untimely demise," North said, before an audience member interrupted him to complain of spoilers.
At the unrelated Indy PopCon over the weekend, other video game voice actor Troy Baker, who played one of the game's lead characters, said he knew nothing about a Last of Us sequel when asked about it.
"Okay, so I'm... And by the way I know nothing," he said. "I don't know if we're gonna do another one or not. If we do, then I trust Neil [Druckmann, creative director] and Bruce [Straley, game director] and everyone at Naughty Dog to tell a story that needs to be told."
You can see both of the voice actors' full comments in the videos below, complete with minor to major spoilers.
At least one character artist at Secret Six, a studio that creates outsourced art for games, lists The Last of Us 2 as a current project. Among their other work, Secret Six create art for the original Last of Us.
