Lucas joins Super Smash Bros. June 14 alongside Splatoon outfits

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U will add Lucas from Mother 3 to their rosters June 14, according to a tweet from Nintendo of America today.

Cross-platform fighting game players will be able to purchase Lucas at 11 a.m. ET, a week from this Sunday. According to the series' official site, Lucas will cost $3.99 on each system or $4.99 to unlock on both.

The official site also says that several Splatoon-themed outfits for Miis will arrive in the game the same day for $0.75 each, or $1.15 on both systems.

The Japanese Super Smash Bros. Twitter account's announcement also said that a Miiverse stage will arrive next week. We've contacted Nintendo to see if that will happen outside of Japan and will update this article with more information as we receive it.

Nintendo president and CEO Satoru Iwata announced Lucas' addition to the games in early April. The returning fighter also appeared in Super Smash Bros. Brawl for Wii and will join his Earthbound pal Ness, who also has an amiibo.

You can check out Lucas' debut footage from the announcement below. For more on the game, be sure to read Polygon's Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U review.
