Ridley Scott returns to space in The Martian, with Matt Damon as the most resourceful astronaut ever, as well as an expansive cast featuring Kate Mara, Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Sean Bean, Sebastian Stan, Donald Glover, Jeff Daniels and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
When a monster storm forces the early evacuation of the third manned mission to Mars, Damon's Mark Watney is stranded on the red planet and presumed dead. Unfortunately, it does not appear that he survives by discovering Prothean ruins, the monolith or a face. Fortunately, it doesn't look like Prometheus' Engineer makes an appearance either.
There is, however, absolutely an Alien reference in this imitation introduction video from the NASA crew of the film, as long as you don't blink. The Martian, based on the book of the same name by Andy Weir, will hit theaters this Thanksgiving.
