Epic's Fortnite coming to Mac, beta hits this fall

Fortnite, Epic Games' upcoming free-to-play online shooter, will come to Mac in beta form this fall, the company announced today during Apple's WWDC keynote.

Reached for comment, Epic confirmed that Fortnite is coming to Mac.

"We're targeting desktops for Mac," the Epic representative said, "and the Mac version will be supported along with PC for the closed beta that starts later this year."

Epic Games' Josh Adams and Bill Bramer took the stage today during the keynote to demo Fortnite running on Mac, built using Apple's Metal technology. That tech was first unveiled for iOS 8, and Apple announced today that the graphical efficiencies it enables will becoming to the Mac in the next version of the operating system, El Capitan.
