Last week, Blizzard announced that it will be bringing new hero portraits to Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft for real money. However, it sounds like that's not the only addition coming to the popular free-to-play card game in the near future.
Over on the official Hearthstone Twitter and Facebook pages, Blizzard posted the following cryptic message and animated gif:
Huh, that's new! #Hearthstone pic.twitter.com/zpA0McRqha

The implication, of course, is that there will be a new game mode added to the game. Currently there are three primary ways to play Hearthstone: regular multiplayer matches with constructed decks, an arena mode where players draft a deck from random cards and single-player adventures against AI opponents.
It's unclear what the new game mode would be, though one of the most frequent requests from the Hearthstone community is for a proper tournament mode.
Others have suggested this could just be a new menu option for allowing players to change their hero portraits and deck themes to go along with the new purchases. Traditionally those kind of cosmetic choices have been picked via an options menu hidden in a corner of the screen.
We've reached out to Blizzard to see if they are willing to provide any more information on the tease, and we'll update if we hear back. In the mean time, why not check out our feature on the creation of Hearthstone's challenging single-player boss fights or watch us take on some of those bosses in the video below.
