Report: Dark Souls 3 hits 'early 2016'

Dark Souls 3 will be released in "early 2016," according to a report from IGN that cites a promotional image for the still-unannounced game.

The artwork shows a kneeling, flaming knight with what appears to be sand or ash running through his fingers. A burned city lies in desolation in the background. The imagery seems to match leaked screenshots reportedly from Dark Souls 3, which is rumored to be in development for PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.

If the release date is accurate, Dark Souls 3 will hit about two years after its predecessor was released for previous-generation consoles and PC, and about a year after From Software's Bloodborne.

We're expecting to see more from Dark Souls 3 at E3 2015 next week.
