The Punisher is coming to Hell's Kitchen. Marvel confirmed today that the deadly vigilante will appear in the second season of Netflix's Daredevil, with Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead, Fury) taking on the role of Frank Castle, aka The Punisher.
"Jon Bernthal brings an unmatched intensity to every role he takes on, with a potent blend of power, motivation and vulnerability that will connect with audiences," said Jeph Loeb, Marvel's head of television in a news release. "Castle's appearance will bring dramatic changes to the world of Matt Murdock and nothing will be the same."
Previous versions of The Punisher were played by Dolph Lundgren, Tom Jane and Ray Stevenson.
Marvel's description of The Punisher says the character "aims to clean up New York City's Hell's Kitchen by any means necessary, no matter how lethal the results." He'll likely clash with Charlie Cox's Daredevil in how they approach dealing with Hell's Kitchen's crime problems.
Castle may not be the only new Marvel character coming in Daredevil's second season. Rumors abound that Bullseye and Elektra are also slated to make appearances.
In April, Marvel and Netflix confirmed a second season of Daredevil will debut sometime in 2016 on the streaming service.
